Hey, what's that on my shirt?

Sam started noticing designs and logos on his shirts and clothing for the first time last week. I caught him staring at this teddy bear that's on his shirt and fingering it and could just imagine the thought "What's that on my shirt?" running through his head. As other things close to his face draw his attention, he's also been known to stare cross-eyed at times. Very droll.

Kiwi fuzz

Sam is ever so slowly starting to grow hair back on the top of his head. He had a full head of hair at birth and it slowly fell out from the top and sides of his head (but he still has a nice thick mullet in the lower back of his head). I'm just starting to notice some short, soft brown hairs coming back - maybe I'll get to use that baby comb yet!

Lighter than a sledgehammer

Dave and I spent most of the weekends in May working on finishing the destruction of our home in preparation for remodeling (namely removing the carport wall). At the end of a particularly busy day of destruction when many others were helping watch Sam, I got to hold him for the first time in several hours. My comment was "Wow, he's lighter than a sledgehammer." Although we estimate he's around 17 lbs so he may not be much lighter...

Sam just rolled over!

Sam just rolled over from his back to his front for the first time this morning! Then he did it again! He'd been getting over to his side regularly recently, but never all the way over. The only down side is he hates being on his tummy. So he rolls over and has a moment of shock that he's in a new position and then he starts crying because he doesn't like being on his tummy. The two times he did it was just after waking up from a nap, so we'll see what he does tonight! -Christine

down for the count

Peanut didn't want to sleep in his crib, but was happy to go down after playing on his activity mat for ten minutes. Mom was just a casualty of the situation.

Really Flexible!

Lots of Updates!

I've been remiss with updating this with pictures, so I thought I would give a bunch of updates and pictures.

Sam liked hanging out on a bean bag while we visited Justin and Alex and played catch phrase. Somehow he always go stuck with the hard words...

Dad and Mom had some help from their friends this week as they demo-ed some of their house preparing for the framers who showed up today!

Peanut was not all that excited about visiting the Wild Animal Park, but I have to admit - I was a little bit concerned when the cheetah started pacing in front of the fence.

Yawn....beautiful girls bore me. There's only room for one woman in my life and that's mom!

Although, I must say, Dania certainly does appear to have a mighty tasty shoulder!

Whoops....face plant into the swing.

Sam got a nice visit from Will, Phoebe, Hazel and Gus!

Sam laughed at both mom and dad today! Well maybe he laughed with mom and at dad, but it was a musical sound. It is amazing as he figures out how his voice works!

That is MISTER Peanut to you.

Sam and Eli were hanging out at the milk bar, but apparently Eli had reached his limit

3 month update

Sam celebrated his 3 month birthday last week. He's growing steadily (in 6 mos. clothing now) and learning more each day. He readily smiles for mom and dad and often for others. He just today started adding a little 'he he' to his laughs that had before been silent big smiles. He's getting better hand-eye coordination and loves sucking on his hands and fingers (and licking whatever comes near his mouth) . He's getting better at reaching for toys, though it's not very smooth yet. He's graduating to the next size in Fuzzi Bunz. What else... He's vocalizing lots and starting to put together consonant and vowel pairs (he was going 'ba ba ba' in his crib yesterday morning). And last night he slept a record 9 hours in a row! Mom feels like a new woman. Oh, and his eyes are changing from blue to brown ever so slowly. I'll try to update more frequently as so much is changing!

Julia and Sam

Sam's aunt Julia was able to get Sam to mimic her raising her left eyebrow!

Second month stats

So Sam just celebrated his second month of life on March 25th and had his doctor's appointment the next day (the one with all the shots, but he did well). He now weighs 13 lbs 12 oz (in the 90th percentile) and is 23.5 inches long (in the 75th percentile). For those who care, his head circumference is 39.5 cm (in the 50th percentile). For those counting, that means in one month he gained 3 lb 3 oz and grew 1.5 inches in length. He's getting to be big! He is smiling a bit more each day, has become pretty good at moving his hands where he wants them and tracks people across the room.
